I'm an engineering leader with twenty-five years of turning the systems a business has outgrown into governed, audit-ready platforms people can trust. I'm writing because the role you're filling is the kind of work I've spent my career doing well: taking a legacy data estate that everyone is afraid to touch and making it reliable, observable, and safe to build on.
Most recently I led the design of a clinical data-lineage catalog that cut compliance audit preparation from two weeks to three days — not by adding headcount, but by making the data explain itself. Before that, in financial data, I rebuilt an ingestion pipeline that had been the source of every late-night page into a self-healing system the on-call rotation stopped dreading. The throughline across both is the same: I don't just ship the fix, I leave the team better able to ship the next one.
That instinct comes from where I started. I served in the Navy as an electronics technician, where "it mostly works" was never an acceptable answer and where I learned to lead people under real pressure. I've carried both forward — mentoring the next engineers deliberately, and keeping my own skills current on purpose rather than by accident, because a leader whose knowledge has gone stale can no longer recognize good work.
I would welcome the chance to talk about what your team is building and where I can help. Thank you for your time and consideration.
